Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place. ―Paulo Coelho

And if you worry that not finishing the food on your plate is a slap in the face to all the hungry people everywhere, you are not living in reality. The truth is that you either throw the food out or you throw it in, but either way it turns to waste. World hunger will not be solved by finishing the garlic mashed potatoes on your plate. ― Geneen Roth

Happy Earth Day! Just popping in today to share some good news from my friends at @treesforthefuture
Hello dear friends, I feel terrible for completely abandoning this space but it seems 2020 had an additional curveball planned for my family. Luckily, this second one is a good kind. Earlier this year, my husband took on a new position and we will be relocating to England as a result... this is what I’ve been so busy with all this time. Next time I pop in here hopefully we are well settled on the other side of the Atlantic. Til then, stay safe and well. xx
”The world still remains the same. It need not us. We set it on fire. We made it fall apart, yet the grandeur of the universe quietly watches and listens.”
Never forget where you started. 💙
As promised yesterday, these summer fruits are all for you Alexandra @bakingmydays but you’ll have to promise to share with all your fabulous @onourcreativetable gal pals @berryhunting @haniyeh.nikoo @lionelandhetta @panyaskitchen @story_on_a_plate_ @violaminerva
One for you Lucie and one for me.... my entry for this month’s challenge for #onlyoneicecream ...just for fun!
#letsgogreencontest For sure, going green is so much more than a hashtag. Social media makes it too easy to post some nice words, tack on a hashtag and pat ourselves on the back. I know my “green” friends can relate… behind these posts is hard work that no one sees, depressing work really, and on really tough days, there are tears. When everyone around you is living it up, it’s hard to believe that our small steps can make a difference. Even the smallest task can feel as if we’re swimming against the current. I’m not sharing any tips, instead here is what keeps me going:
These summer mornings all start the same, in my garden, as the day’s first light greets every miracle of life that inhabits there. There’s a sense of togetherness in these small moments, an acute awareness that each one of us is connected, through our history as well as this planet that we call our home; my cup filled with tea, my heart, with happiness. Another thing that makes me really happy is helping Trees for the Future help give the gift of a garden to families that need it most, families that would otherwise fall into a spiral of poverty and hunger. Take a look at their work @treesforthefuture and donate to their COVID-19 Relief Fund or simply share their work in your stories to help spread word. If we are in this together, then there’s no point moving forward while so many are left behind.
It’s been ridiculously hot the past few weeks and though our quick fix is some homemade ice cream, it’s disheartening to see fires raging in parts of our planet that are normally frozen year-round. Even more disheartening to see that people/governments continue as if there’s nothing wrong, nothing left to save. 😢
