Grapefruit Green Tea Thirst Quencher

Warning: Grapefruit is known to interact with certain medication. If you are taking medication, please consult with a pharmacist beforehand.

(serves 1)

  • 1 green tea bag
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1-2 tsp honey
  • pinch of salt
  1. Pour boiling water over tea bag in a small glass pitcher or jar. Steep tea for 3-4 minutes and remove tea bag. Stir in honey and salt. Allow to chill in the fridge for at least a few hours (If you didn’t do this step beforehand, just use less water to make the tea and then make up for the rest with ice.)
  2. When ready to drink, juice grapefruit. I use a manual juicer. One grapefruit gives about 1/2 to 1/3 cup of juice. (I don’t believe in wasting, so I eat the pulp!)
  3. Combine juice with tea and enjoy!

Note: You can totally experiment with other citrus fruit here as well.

    1. You are most welcomed. I drink a lot of tea as well but green tea on its own is not my favourite. But as a chilled drink with some flavouring, it is great!

  1. I agree, there is no juice that quenches thirst quite so well as grapefruit! And the colour is just so beautiful. In New Zealand, almost everyone had a grapefruit tree in their backyard but it was always the yellow kind, which are twice as bitter as the pink. I think that modern tastes have changed to prefer the sweeter version, but I’ll always have a soft spot for the yellow.
